During 7 years of my studies in
Physiotherapy I have come across many people asking me questions like what is
Physiotherapy? What will you do as a Physiotherapist? Is
Physiotherapy a massage therapy? What different can you do when we have medicines
for all the problems? Why will anyone come to a Physiotherapist?
All these questions remind me of
the unawareness of people about Physiotherapists in India whereas it’s a well
known Profession and people really think twice before having any medicine
rather they go to a Physiotherapist for any problem in many other countries.
Physiotherapy is a broad medical
profession and study of human movement/body. Physiotherapists are the experts
of movements, and they go through each and every detail of a human body just
like other medical professions. They study for 4.5 years along with proper
clinical training in bachelor’s and can pursue Masters in any specialization.
How will
Physiotherapy help?
Physiotherapy is a profession that
should be chosen over medicines. Medicines have many side effects in later
stages of life. But in Physiotherapy all you get is pain free life, better
